Abstract

GDOT ARCHAEOLOGICAL REPORT SHORT FORM FOR NEGATIVE FINDINGS Revised Phase I Archaeological Survey of Perimeter Center North Intersections, DeKalb County, Georgia; Prime Consultant: URS Corporation; County(ies): DeKalb County, Georgia; USGS Quadrangle(s): Chamblee GA, 1993 The APE consists of the intersections and intervening segments of corridor listed in the Project Description. Most work will occur within the existing right-of-way; however, small amounts of additional right-of-way will be required at each intersection. In addition, narrow construction easements along the corridor will also be required for sidewalk construction and fiber-optic directional boring Survey Limitations and Disturbance(s): The area containing the study corridors has been extensively developed. Within the corridors themselves, which are directly adjacent to the existing street, numerous buried utilities are in place. These had already been marked by the various companies in anticipation of project implementation and included fiber optic cables and water lines. Survey Methods: During the original survey conducted by New South Assoicates in 2004, subsurface testing was undertaken at a number of intersections. Due to this and the heavily urbanized setting, the study area was re-examined completely through visual inspection. All intersections and interlinking segments of road were walked and visually scrutinized.
