Abstract

On September 20, 2006, URS Corporation performed a Phase I archaeological survey of the proposed SRl 1 /US 129 bridge replacemnet over the Big Tucsawhatchee Creek in Pulaski County, Georgia. During the course of the investigation, two archaeological resources were recorded within the project area. Site 9PU98 consists of a possible lithic reduction workshop and an early nineteenth century to mid twentieth century artifact scatter; and 9PU99 consists of a small lithic scatter. Neither site was delineated beyond the APE, therefore the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eligibility for each is considered unknown. However, the portion of the 9PU98 falling within the APE is considered contributing and thus has been recommended potentially eligible for listing in the NRHP, while the known portion of 9PU99 within the APE is considered noncontributing (not eligible).
