Abstract

GDOT Archaeological Report Short Form for Negative Findings: Phase I Archaeological Survey for the Widening of Panola Road and Associated Intersection Improvements, DeKalb County, Georgia. Prime Consultant: ARCADIS; County(ies): DeKalb; USGS Quadrangle(s): Redan Project Description: The proposed projects would consist of widening the existing roadway of Panola Road between Snapfinger Road (SR 155) and Covington Highway in Dekalb County. Bike lanes, sidewalks, and medians would be constructed along the widened roadway. The south end of the existing roadway (south of the 1-20 interchange) would be widened from two 12-foot travel lanes (one in each direction) to three 12-foot travel lanes with a two-foot varying flush/raised median. The north end of the existing roadway (north of the 1-20 interchange) would be widened from four 12-foot travel lanes (two in each direction) to six 12-foot travel lanes (three in each direction) with a variable 20- to 32-foot raised median. In addition, the proposed projects would construct four-foot bike lanes and five-foot sidewalks along the entire project corridor. All crossroad interchanges would be improved, including improvements to approach lane configurations and turn lane lengths. Area of Potential Effect: The APE for the project includes everything within the construction project length and within the maximum extent of the existing and required ROW as described above.
