Abstract

An archaeological study was conducted of the area encompassed by Robins A.F.B. The purpose of the study was two fold: (1) to determine the significance of a previously located prehistoric site; and (2) to locate and record any other archaeological or historic sites on the base. The previously recorded site was found to have been occupied for short periods from about 3,000 to 2,000 years ago. Evidence of prehistoric and early historic occupation or activity was found at 63 other locations. Most occupations appear to have been the campsites of small groups. They range in age from 9,500 to only 50 years old. Now that these sites have been identified, they can be preserved, if necessary, for future study and enlightenment.
