Archaeological Resources Survey for the Gunn Road Substation, Peach County, Georgia

Abstract

An intensive archaeological resources survey was carried out for the Georgia Transmission Corporation's proposed Gunn Road Substation in Peach County, Georgia. The project was carried out in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act by personnel qualified under 36 CFR Part 61. The total area surveyed included approximately 4 acres within the existing transmission line right-of-way. The width of the transmission line right-of-way is 79 m (260 ft). No previously identified historic or prehistoric cultural resources were located within the project area boundaries through background research at the Georgia State Historic Preservation Division nor with the State Site Files Database maintained by the Department of Anthropology, University of Georgia. No archaeological sites were identified in the project tract during this survey. No additional archaeological resources investigations are recommended.
