Abstract

In April 1998, a cultural resources survey of the 4.75 miles (7.6 km) Flat Rock electric power transmission line corridor in Heard County, Georgia was conducted by Brockington and Associates, Inc. for Greenhorne & O'Mara, Inc. These investigations were conducted in order to comply with cultural resources management provisions of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers regulations (33 CFR 220-230) and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (as amended, 1992). Archival research identified no previously recorded archaeological sites in or near the project corridor. No listed National Register of Historic Places properties exist within the project corridor. Six previously recorded historic resources are present within 0.5 mile (0.8 km) of the project corridor. Cultural resources clearance for the Flat Rock electric power transmission line is recommended.
