Abstract

Original: The proposed project would consist of replacing the bridge on SR 284 over the Chattahoochee River in Hall County. The total project length would be approximately 2,900 ft, beginning at M.P. 1.63 and extending to M.P. 2.18. The purpose of this project is to replace a structurally deficient and functionally obsolete bridge on SR 284 over the Chattahoochee River. The existing bridge sufficiency rating is currently 48.24. The existing typical section is two 12-foot travel lanes with variable width grass shoulders. The existing ROW is 80 to 200 ft. The proposed typical section is two 12-ft travel lanes with 2-ft paved shoulders, 4-ft bike lanes, and curb and gutter and 12-ft shoulders with 5-ft sidewalks. Proposed ROW consists of approximately 120 ft of additional ROW on the east side and 20 ft on the west side of the roadway. The revised plans had the following changes: The project length would increase 206 feet at the northern end of the proposed project. The sidewalks would be extended 206 feet to the north along both sides of the roadway. A pedestrian tunnel would be constructed under SR 284. The tunnel would be approximately 90 feet southwest of the existing driveways for Clarks Bridge Park. The driveways to Clarks Bridge Park would be relocated approximately 270 feet southwest of the existing locations.
