Abstract

The proposed project would consist of improvements to the intersection of CS 340/Peachtree Parkway and CS 592/Crosstown Drive in Peachtree City, Fayette County, Georgia. The existing Peachtree Parkway consists of four 12-foot through-lanes, two in each direction, a 10-foot to 24-foot raised median, right-turn and left-turn lanes at both approaches, and curb and gutter and grassed shoulders. The existing right-of-way width is approximately 135 feet on Peachtree Parkway. The existing Crosstown Drive consists of two 12-foot shared through and left turn-lanes, one in each direction, with 12-foot right-turn lanes, and with curb and gutter and grass shoulders. The existing right-of-way width is approximately 100 feet on Crosstown Drive. Peachtree Parkway and Crosstown Drive would be widened to accommodate extended right-turn lanes on all approaches.. The shoulders on both roadways would be approximately 7.5 feet wide and would consist of curb and gutter with a five-foot grass strip. Right-of-way miters would be required from the northwest, northeast, and southeast quadrants of the intersection. A strip of right-of-way up to 15 feet wide would be required long the east side of Peachtree Parkway south of the intersection. The total amount of required right-of-way would be approximately 4,939 square feet (0.11 acre). The project limits on Peachtree Parkway would extend from approximately 208 feet south of the intersection to 272 feet north of the intersection. The project limits on Crosstown Drive would extend from approximately 645 feet west of the intersection to 474 feet east of the intersection. The total project length would be approximately 1,119 feet (0.21 mile).
