Abstract

In November and December 2000, New South Associates began an archaeological assessment and intensive survey of the proposed Murray Project for East Tennessee Natural Gas Company (ETNG). This report is organized by state (Tennessee and Georgia) for the convenience of each state's State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) readers. The project consisted of a variety of proposed natural gas pipeline loops, access roads, pipe storage yards/contractor wareyards (pipeyards/wareyards), meter stations, temporary manifolds, and extra work space areas. The purpose of this investigation was to locate and document the archaeological and architectural resources within the project's area of potential effect (APE) as agreed on by Foster Wheeler Environmental Corporation and Tennessee and Georgia's SHPO representatives.
