Report on an Archaeological Survey of a Sewage Treatment Facility in Alamo, Georgia

Report Number
44
Year of Publication
1977
Abstract

The existing sewage treatment pond and enclosure were found to contain no evidence of prehistoric or historic period occupation. In addition, surface survey and subsurface testing of the area surrounding the existing pond revealed no evidence of prehistoric or historic utilization of adjacent areas. State archaeological site files at the University of Georgia were checked and were found to contain no known archaeological sites in the vicinity of the project area.

Modification of the Alamo sewage oxidation pond will have no effect on prehistoric or historic period archaeological sites within the area surveyed$ If the proposed modifications are expanded beyond the margins of the areas surveyed, further archaeological survey could be required.
