Cultural Resource Survey of the Bend and Wilscot Creek Roads and Timber Sales

Abstract

On October 20 and 21, 1982, the author conducted a cultural resource survey on 400 acres covering the 2.4 mile proposed Allison Ridge Road, and the adjoining land of a proposed timber sale. The survey area is located in White County, Georgia. A field reconnaissance which included subsurface testing located one heavily disturbed aboriginal lithic scatter in the proposed road right-of-way. Disturbances by previous logging road construction and severe erosion have rendered this site of little archaeological significance and ineligible for nomination to the National Register. It is recommended that the proposed road and timber sale area be cleared from impact to cultural resources.
