Abstract

Greenhouse Consultants Incorporated was retained by QORE Property Sciences to provide Phase II archaeological testing of the proposed Alexander Drive extension in Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia. Fieldwork was undertaken March 7 to 9, 2002 under the direction of staff principal investigator John W. Matthews. Staff archaeologists Diane Hammonds and Lauren Faulkenberry served as field technicians. Ms. Hammonds also assisted in the laboratory. The purpose of this Phase II testing was to determine if there were any remains of the Hankinson-Hagler Brick Company that survive in the area of the proposed extension of Alexander Drive. Phase I fieldwork, completed during December 2001, established that there are no remains in the area of other proposed improvements to the existing Alexander Drive right-of-way. Both phases of the investigation were completed to comply with state and federal (Section 106) regulations and guidelines.
