Abstract

The proposed project consists of the improvement of horizontal and vertical alignment, at three locations along SR 211 between winder and 1-85 in Barrow County. The proposed improvements at Location 1 consists of the correction of the existing curve at the intersection of SR 211 and CR 326; and the construction of a 3.6 m (6 ft) turning lane for a total distance of approximately .65 km (0.41 mi). The existing vertical grade and the horizontal curve would be corrected at Location 2 near the intersection of CR 53 and SR 211 for a total distance of approximately 0.69 km (0.43 mi). At Location 3, just north of 1-85, two horizontal curves would be corrected within the existing right-of-way for a total distance of approximately 0.67 km (0.42 mi). An archaeological survey consistent with the proposed right-of-way was conducted for the entire 0.6 km (0.38 mi) project corridor. No existing or eligible National Register archaeological resources were located within the project's area of potential environmental effect.
