Abstract

On 29 July 1982, Applied Biology, Inc. conducted a 100-percent coverage cultural resource survey of the proposed Deshong transmission line and substation site near Snellville, Gwinnett County, Georgia. A review of the site files at the University of Georgia in Athens revealed that one prehistoric site (9Gw27) has been previously recorded within the impact zone; however, it could not be relocated during the present survey. Surface survey and subsurface shovel testing revealed only one site, a prehistoric surface scatter (Site ABI 151-1) and an isolated find (ABI 151-IF1). Based on our findings, it is recommended that full cultural clearance be granted for the proposed transmission line and substation site.
