A Cultural Resource Survey was conducted on April 19 and 20, 1982, along the 5-mile flagline of a proposed extension of Gold Mine Road in Rabun County, Georgia. An additional length of 5 miles was surveyed in the proximity. This survey located two stone mound sites adjacent to the proposed roadway. other cultural resources, including a prehistoric site, an isolated grave and an historic house site were located in the nearby areas surveyed. These additional cultural resources are discussed in the appendix of this report. The road location will be adjusted slightly so that it will have no effects on the sites found.
