Abstract

During the week of August 23 to 31, 1981, an on site Cultural Resource survey of the Indian Creek Development, Albany, Georgia, was conducted. Cultural Remains were located in the development area but were not considered to be significant for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places. It was found that prior agricultural practices and subsequent erosion and weathering had decimated any contextual placement of the remains and as well had contributed to deflation of the entire area. Based upon the results of the survey, it is recommended that the development be allowed to continue with qualifications. These are that contractors and construction personnel be cautioned about the possible presence of deeply buried features in the area. Should such features be encountered, then the Office of the State Historic Preservation Officer be notified at once and further determination be made as to the significance of the buried remains by personnel of that office.
