Abstract

From October 19 through October 21, 1994, New South Associates conducted a Phase I archaeological survey of 44 acres for a proposed development for the WalMart Corporation in Catoosa County, Georgia. A pedestrian survey of the 44 acres used a 30 meter shovel test interval as well as visual inspection of the exposed ground surface. The survey located no prehistoric or historic sites within the survey area, though an intact Indian mound and an eroded Indian mound were located approximately 150 meters west of, and outside, the project area boundaries. The proposed development will not impact any cultural resources, and no further archeological work is recommended in the project area.
