The following report is a summary of the work completed and the archaeological resources located, for the waterworks improvements project in Darien, Georgia. This report period is from March 20, 1978 to, and including April 17, 1978. Work progress during this period was excellent due to good weather conditions. The placement of the waterline pipe in Darien has been completed with the exception of a portion of U.S. Highway 17. No archaeological resources of any kind were located during this reporting period. Trenching operations were conducted in residential low-lying marsh areas and along roads which exhibited much fill. A few historic artifacts were found in some shallow fill zones, but these zones have no archaeological significance.
