Abstract

A cultural resource survey was conducted by the author on 107 acres in the Chestatee Ranger District of the Chattahoochee National Forest on April 11, 1983. The survey area, located on Justus Creek, included 21 acres of proposed timber sales in Stands No. 41 and 47. Two prehistoric sites were discovered during the survey. Both sites were located in Stand No. 47 in Sale Unit 13c. The sites were located as surface deposits in a logging road which crosses the survey area. Subsurface testing in wooded areas adjacent to these lithic scatters failed to produce additional cultural material. It is recommended that the survey area be cleared from impact to cultural resources.
