Abstract

On 11 July, 1996 Dave Davis of this office accompanied Mr. John R. Morgan of the Historic Preservation Division in an assessment of archaeological resources within Camp Adahi in Walker County, Georgia. This 900 acre tract is located in northwest Walker County (See Attached Map). They were assisted in locating potential archaeological resources by Ms. A. Beth Coleman, Executive Staff member of the Moccasin Bend Girl Scout Council and Ms. Jean Biddle, Camp Adahi Staff Member. The purpose of the assessment was the result of a request for assistance from Ms. Coleman in an effort to identify archaeological resources within Camp Adahi and to avoid impacting archaeological resources which might be disturbed by future development. The assessment involved a pedestrian survey of areas which had potential for archaeological resources. The entire 900 acre tract was not assessed and it is of most importance to stress that further archaeological resources potentially exist within Camp Adahi.
