Abstract

Lot 29 is an 80 by 45 foot property situated near the north end of Ott Street on the eastern periphery of Savannah. A Victorian period house stood here until its removal on or about October 16, 1979. Investigation of this and adjacent lots revealed a considerable quantity of surface debris, primarily of 20th or late 19th century date, but including some materials from as early as 1800. These early remains are, however, rare, scattered, superficial, and thoroughly mixed with later artifacts, and therefore lacking in significance. The site is clearly ineligible for the National Register and it is recommended that the proposed property alterations proceed without further archaeological investigation.
