Abstract

On 27-30 May 1997, Brockington and Associates, Inc. conducted a cultural resources survey of 1,691 acres of the Godley Tract, Chatham County, Georgia for the Branigar Organization. The work was undertaken in compliance with current federal regulations regarding the management of cultural resources on privately owned lands. Two archaeological sites (9CH873 and 9CH874) and nine isolated finds (Isolates 1-9) were identified during the survey. All of the sites and isolated finds are recommended not eligible for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) due to disturbance and/or a general paucity of artifacts. No further management consideration is recommended for these resources. Proposed ground disturbing activities in the surveyed area will result in no effect to any significant cultural resources. Such activities should be allowed to proceed.
