Abstract

On July 11, July 18, Auust 26 and September 15, 1983, James F. Bates of Claude Terry & Associates, Inc. (CTA), conducted a 100 percent coverage cultural resource pedestrian survey of the proposed Oglethorpe Power Corporation Woodstock-Alpharetta transmission line corridor in Cherokee and Fulton Counties, Georgia. Mr. Bates was assisted in the field by Mr. Sonny Brown (Oglethorpe Power Corporation), Mr. Thomas Mather (CTA), Mr. Robert Webb (CTA) and Mr. Robert Hunter (CTA). A review of the state site files and the National Register of Historic Places revealed that no previously recorded cultural resources have been discovered within the proposed impact zone. The cultural resource survey conducted by the CTA team involved extensive shovel testing within the project impact zone. No prehistoric or historic, culturally significant artifacts were encountered. Based on these findings, CTA reconriends full cultural clearance for the proposed transmission line.
