Abstract

The proposed project is located in the City of Metter, Georgia. The project would begin at the 1-16 West exit ramp and end at the intersection of SR 23/121 and Stripling Street. The total project length is approximately 4,365 feet (0.83 mile). The existing SR 23/121 has four 11-foot travel, lanes with variable width grassed shoulders and ditches. The existing right-of-way tapers in from the 1-16 Interchange right-of-way to vary between 100 to 120 feet. The proposed project would widen SR 23/121 to a five-lane urban undivided roadway with two 12-foot through lanes in each direction and a 14-foot two-way left turn lane. The proposed roadway would have urban shoulders including 30-inch curb and gutter, a two-foot grass strip, and five-foot sidewalks. The proposed right-of-way would taper in from.the 1-16 interchange right-of-way to vary between 100 to 160 feet. The five-lane section would end at Lytell Street by creating a right-turn bay northbound and adding a lane southbound. The remainder of the width is tapered out from Lytell Street to Stripling Street. The proposed project would require approximately 0.872 acre of right-of-way, 0.515 acre of permanent easement, 0.022 acre of temporary construction easement, and 0.589 acre of temporary driveway easement.
