Abstract

The proposed project is located on the west side of Statesboro in Bulloch County, Georgia. The project would consist of the construction of a roundabout at the intersection of the SR 67 Bypass and CR 142/Pulaski Road. The SR 67 Bypass consists of two through-lanes in each direction with a left-turn lane and a right-turn lane on both the northbound and southbound approaches to the intersection. The existing CR 142/Pulaski Road consists of one through-lane in each direction with no turn lanes. The current intersection is unsignalized with a stop sign control on CR 142/Pulaski Road. The proposed roundabout would provide two through-lanes for traffic traveling on the SR 67 Bypass and one through lane for traffic traveling on CR 142/Pulaski Road. The existing and proposed speed limit on the SR 67 Bypass is 55 miles per hour (mph). The existing and proposed speed limit on CR 142/Pulaski Road is 45 mph. The existing right-of-way (ROW) along the SR 67 Bypass is approximately 200 feet wide. The existing ROW along CR 142/Pulaski Road is approximately 100 feet wide. The proposed project would be constructed within the existing ROW with no additional ROW or easement required. The project limits on the SR 67 Bypass would extend approximately 550 feet north and 550 feet south of the intersection. The project limits on CR 142/Pulaski Road would extend approximately 400 feet east and 400 feet west of the intersection. The total project length would be approximately 1,900 feet (0.4 mile).
