Abstract

Project and Soil Descriptions and References: Milton SRTS Project, Fulton County, Georgia, GDOT Project CSSRS-0009-00(443), P.I. 0009443 Project Description: GDOT Project CSSRS-0009-00(443), Fulton County, consists of pedestrian improvements at three schools in the City of Milton, Georgia: Crabapple Crossing Elementary School, Summit Hill Elementary School, and Northwestern Middle School. Crabapple Crossing Elementary School Installing new sidewalk along the east side of Broadwell Road from Cathedral Drive to Crabapple Road. Extending the existing sidewalk along the west side of Birmingham Highway between Kensington Farm Drive and Owens Farm Road. Filling in gaps in existing sidewalks on the north side of Crabapple Road from Green Road to Lecoma Trace, and two short sections between Lecoma Trace and Itaska Walk. Installing new sidewalk on the south side of Kensington Farms Drive between Birmingham Highway and the clubhouse of the Kensington Farms Subdivision. Installing additional school zone signage and flashers, high visibility crosswalks, pavement stencils, and radar speed signs for the unsignalized intersections on Birmingham Highway. Summit Hill Elementary School Installing a sidewalk connection from the existing sidewalk along Providence Road in front of the school to Cowart Road. Filling in gaps in existing sidewalk along the east side of Freemanville Road between Redd Road and Summit Road. Installing additional school zone signage and flashers, high visibility crosswalks, pavement stencils, SpeedCheck signs, and ADA upgrades within the school zone on Providence Road. Northwestern Middle School Adding raised crosswalks/speed tables on each side of both driveways crossing School Road to Northwestern Middle School. Installing additional school zone signage and flashers, high visibility crosswalks, pavement stencils, Radar speed signs, and countdown pedestrian signal upgrades at the signalized intersections of Birmingham Highway at School Road, and Freemanville Road at School Road (within the school zones on Birmingham Highway and Freemanville Road). All of the above noted improvements will be constructed within existing right-of-way (ROW).
