Abstract

The purpose of this investigation was to locate and document the archaeological resources within the project's area of potential effect (APE) as agreed on by Foster Wheeler Environmental Corporation and Georgia's SHPO representatives. All work was conducted in accordance with the Tennessee State Historic Preservation Office's Tennessee SHPO Standards and Guidelines for Archaeological Resource Management Studies (revised) (October 1999), the State of Georgia's Historic Preservation Plan, A Vision for the Future: The Georgia Historic Preservation Plan (Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Atlanta, 1989), and the guidelines for archaeological research, Archaeology: Assessment Report Guidelines and Components, (State Historic Preservation Office, Atlanta, 1993). This report is also in compliance with the standards outlined in the FERC's Guidelines for Reporting on Cultural Resources Investigations (1994) as administered through Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended, and the Archaeological Resources Protection Act of 1979. No eligible or potentially eligible archaeological sites were identified during this survey. No further archaeological study of the corridor is recommended.
