Abstract

On November 4, 1972, I met with Mr. Bob Crawford of AdamsCrawford Realty Company to inspect land they owned bordering the Chattahoochee River at Martin's Crossing. In a previous telephone conversation with Mr. Crawford I had been told that there were suspected Indian sites on this land, and that they wanted an archaeologist to meet with them and make a judgement as to the existence and possible importance of these sites. Upon visiting this land we inspected three rock overhangs of which two contained traces of prehistoric Indian habitation. At this time Mr. Crawford and I discussed the proposed construction of a sewer line along the river bank at this point and the possible effects it might have on the contents of these rock shelters and their importance from a public point of view.
