Abstract

The proposed project would replace the existing main bridge and overflow structure on County Road 305 over Little Satilla Creek. The main bridge limits begin at milepost 5.96 and end at milepost 6.16 for a total length of 0.20 miles. The structure is located at roadway inventory milepost 6.13. This structure is 6.2 miles north of the city limits of Patterson, Georgia on County Road 305/Tyre Bridge Road at Big Satilla Creek at the Appling-Pierce County Line (Appling County). The bridge deck is 25.20 feet wide and 420 feet in length. The overflow bridge limits begin at milepost 5.72 and end at milepost 6.12 for a total length of 0.40 miles. The structure is located at roadway inventory milepost 5.92. This structure is 6.0 miles north of the city limits of Patterson, Georgia on County Road 305/Tyre Bridge Road at Big Satilla Creek in Pierce County. The bridge deck is 25.30 feet wide and 330 feet in length. Both structures have substandard load capacity and deck geometry and are approximately 800 feet apart. The logic for establishing this termini is due to replacing the bridges and reworking the shoulders and slopes to accommodate the guardrail. The new bridges will be constructed on the same alignment as the existing bridges. Traffic will be maintained by using an off-site detour. The concept proposes to replace substandard load capacity and deck geometry bridges with upgraded shoulders and guardrail.
