Abstract

Consultant for Robert and Company conducted a pedestrian survey of a proposed 250 acre Lake Impoundment/Dam Site and 150 acres of surrounding land in Clayton County, Georgia. The survey was required by the State of Georgia to bring the Clayton County Water Authority into compliance with various regulations concerning cultural resource identification and protection. A review of the state site files and the National Register of Historic Places revealed that no previously recorded prehistoric or historic resources have been recorded within the impact zone. Surface survey and subsurface shovel testing revealed four historic surface scatters and ten isolated finds. Given the nature of these resources, full cultural clearance is recommended for the 400 acre project tract.
