Abstract

A cultural resource survey of a 10 acre proposed marina site on the west side of Jekyll Island, Georgia, was undertaken on July 23 and 24,1990 by New South Associates. The purpose of this survey was to ensure that no potentially significant historic or pre-historic cultural resources would be disturbed or destroyed by the proposed construction of an 89 slip marina and concomitant support structures. No sites were discovered by either surface survey or subsurface testing. The proposed marina complex development is thus not considered to pose a threat to cultural resources, and no further cultural resources treatment is recommended for the property.
