Abstract

An archaeological survey reconnaissance was conducted on April 17, 1977 in the City of Atlanta at the proposed sites of the Three Rivers Project. The purpose of this survey was to determine the presence and extent of archaeological remains in these areas and to assess what impact the borings in this area would have on these archaeological resources. The area surveyed consisted of 5 primary areas; A, B, C, D, and E (see enclosed map). The vegetation cover of the survey area was light to heavy and included deciduous forest. From an archaeological viewpoint Area A was the most promising of the 5 areas surveyed, however, subsequent testing of the area demonstrated that this area was culturally sterile.
