Abstract

A 1900 foot (579 meter) segment of proposed force main corridor and a 4.5 acre (1.8 hectare) wastewater treatment plant expansion area were surveyed during this project. A combination of pedestrian and subsurface survey techniques were employed on the corridor and plant expansion site, and a single small prehistoric/historic archaeological site was found. That site, described as "Site #1" in Chapter IV of this report, is outside of the immediate construction zone of this project. Also, the site appears to have been destroyed by plowing, and thus appears to lack archaeological significance. It is recommended that this site not be nominated to the National Register of Historic Places, and that archaeological clearance be granted for the proposed Vienna wastewater treatment facilities. Included in the project report are site photographs, site forms, and personnel resumes requested by the office of the State Archaeologist.
