Abstract

A cultural resources survey of the proposed Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Corporation Market Expansion Pipeline project was conducted on February 28 and March 1, 1985. A systematic surface inspection augmented by a subsurface investigation was undertaken in the proposed pipeline right-of-way in an effort to locate cultural resources. A late 19th or early 20th century farmstead (assigned the tentative designation 9EB422 by the University of Georgia, Department of Anthropology) and two isolated finds were located. The historic site and the two isolated finds are not considered to be culturally significant. Based on the results of the investigation, it is recommended that work be allowed to proceed.
