Abstract

The following report contains the findings and conclusions of our survey. The results of the survey indicate that no significant cultural resources are located in those areas designated map reference 2-3, 2-4 and 2-5. Borrow Area #1, 2-1 and its associated spoil area contain a portion of site 9EB201, a significant historic site containing the remains of a dam, several structures and a tailrace of the Pearl Mill, a significant early 20th century mill complex. This site has been recommended for National Register nomination by two previous surveys and is also advised for nomination in this report. Cultural clearance cannot therefore be recommended for this planned Borrow Area #2 (2-1) until additional mitigation procedures have been completed.
