Abstract

During August 2002, Alexander Archaeological Consultants conducted a Phase I archaeological survey of the proposed Trenton Recreational Park in Dade County, Georgia. The project Area of Potential Effect investigated consists of approximately 171 acres. The survey followed the specifications outlined in Georgia Standards and Guidelines for Archaeological Surveys approved by the Georgia Council of Professional Archaeologists (2001). This study was conducted under a contract with Dade County. This project investigation was undertaken to determine the effects of the proposed project on any recorded or identified cultural resources within the area of potential effect that are listed on or may be eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. No cultural material was observed during the field investigation with the exception of a single isolated find. No structures within the area of potential effect will be impacted. Based on the results of this investigation, no further archaeological investigation is recommended at this location.
