Abstract

This report documents the oral interviews with Mr. Marion Godard of Griffin, Georgia, one of the members of the estate from which the Steele Road Substation site is to be purchased, and also presents an architectural assessment of the tenant house. From the personal interviews, a great deal of new information has been contributed to our knowledge of the history of this site, and from the architectural assessment, some of the structural details of the tenant house were documented. Subsequent to this study, the architectural historian concluded that the tenant house does not meet the criteria to be eligible for nomination to the National Register of Historical Places. Consequently, no additional archaeological investigations or architectural studies are recommended for the proposed Steele Road Substation site.
