Abstract

On December 2, 1992, New South Associates conducted a Phase I archeological survey of the SR 120 extension in Alpharetta for Moreland Altobelli Associates, Inc. The project corridor is approximately 3/4 of a mile in length and consists of widening the existing right-of-way of SR 120 to the north between Wills Road and Wills Drive, approximately 1/4 of a mile. The corridor then continues as new right-of-way south of Marietta street and ends at SR 9, approximately 1/2 of a mile. The new right-of-way will be 130 feet wide (approximately 40 meters). A check of the Georgia state site files failed to located any sites in the proposed rightof-way, but did identify nine sites within the project vicinity. None of these recorded sites were determined eligible for the National Register. One new site was located by the survey, and is considered potentially eligible for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places.
