An intensive archaeological resources survey was carried out for the proposed Mobley Bridge Substation in Troup County, Georgia. The project was carried out in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act by personnel qualified under 36 CFR Part 61. The total area surveyed included approximately 2 hectares (5 acres) adjacent to an existing transmission line right-of-way and approximately 75 meters north of Mobley Bridge Road. No previously identified historic or prehistoric cultural resources were located within the project area boundaries through background research at the State Site Files Database maintained by the Department of Anthropology, University of Georgia, the Historic Preservation Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, and the State Archives. No archaeological sites were identified during fieldwork. The proposed project will not affect significant archaeological resources. No additional archaeological resources investigations are recommended.
