Abstract

A Phase I cultural resources survey was conducted for the approximately 115-acre Klewein development site in Cherokee County, Georgia. The study was conducted to locate and identify cultural resources within the project Area of Potential Effects and assess resource significance. The study area consists of a 115-acre tract northwest and southwest of the intersection of Land Road and Lower Burris Road, east of Waleska, Georgia. In total, five archeological sites, four isolated finds, and two historic (over 50 years old) structures were recorded. The five archeological sites, the four isolated finds, and the two historic resources are recommended ineligible for the NRHP. No additional cultural resource investigations are recommended for the 115-acre Klewein development site. Cultural resources clearance to proceed with project implementation is recommended.
