Abstract

In March 2005 New South Associates conducted a phase I archaeological survey of the proposed impact area of the Westside Landfill in Murray County, Georgia. The study tract is composed of approximately 125 acres west of and adjacent to the existing landfill property. A three-person crew conducted the survey. No new archaeological sites were discovered within the survey area, however one isolated find was identified. Due to the steep terrain and a lack of intact soils the potential for additional archaeological features within the project area is unlikely, therefore, no further study of the tract is recommended.
