Abstract

The proposed project involves improvements to the intersection of SR 16 and CR 35/Vaughn Rd. and CR 507 /Rover-Zetella Rd. The project would widen SR 16 symmetrically to provide for 12' left and right turn lanes in each direction. Shoulders would be 10', 6.5' paved and 3.5' grassed, with rumble strips. To help improve sight distance, the intersection of SR 16 at CR 35/CR 507 would be raised and the crest vertical curve would be smoothed out to help improve sight distance. CR 35 and CR 507 would also be widened symmetrically to provide 12' left and right turn lanes in each direction. Shoulders would be 8', 4' paved and 4' grassed. A stop and go traffic signal with pedestrian crosswalks would be installed at the intersection. The project length would be approximately 0.45 mile (MP 6.84 to 7.29) on SR 16. The proposed project would require a maximum of approximately 175 feet of right-ofway on SR 16, approximately 120 feet of right-of-way on CR 507, and approximately 130 feet of right-of-way on CR 35. To tie in Leach Road, a maximum of approximately 75 feet of right-of-way would be required. To tie in Briarcliff Road, up to 85 feet of right-of-way would be required. Easements would also be required for the construction of driveways, for the removal of an encroachment/a gas station, and for the relocation of utilities.
