Abstract

On 31 August 1994, Brockington and Associates, Inc. of Atlanta conducted an archaeological investigation of three areas within Georgia Power Company's lake shore land at Lake Oconee/Wallace Reservoir. The purpose of the project was to determine whether three sites recorded during the Wallace Reservoir Mitigation Survey were present within that property. Christopher T. Espenshade was Principal Investigator and also served as Field Director. No cultural remains were found in Georgia Power Company's land. Two sites are assumed to be completely inundated by the reservoir; the third is either completely inundated, or exists uphill, outside the Georgia Power Company property. The proposed development of the Seed Orchard tract will not impact any NRHP eligible or potentially eligible sites within the Georgia Power Company Lake: Oconee Project.
