Abstract

Moody Air Force Base, Georgia is currently considering a project that would entail extending Runway18L/36R by 1,300 feet. This action would significantly increase flight safety and efficiency by reducing the risk of having an aircraft require an arresting cable engagement to stop and the risk of departing the runway. The proposed project area is currently under private ownership by Fred W. Atkinson III. This cultural resources survey was performed as part of an Environmental Baseline Survey to determine the effects of the project on cultural and natural resources. This report details the field investigations conducted for the proposed runway extension and recommendations concerning the effect this project will have on cultural resources.
