Abstract

The following report describes a cultural resource survey of the proposed route of U.S. Forest Service Road Number 1082, scheduled for construction during 1977. The proposed road is located in compartment 158 of the Oconee National Forest. The route begins at a point 3.2 kilometers (2 miles) north-northeast of the junction of Route 142 and Route 16 and 4.8 kilometers (3 miles) south of the junction of Route 300 and Route 213. From this point the proposed route extends westwardly, terminating after approximately .95 kilometers (.6 miles). The project area is accessible via Route 16, 7.3 kilometers (4.5 miles) west from Eatonton, and then right onto Route 142 for 1.9 kilometers (1.2 miles). At this point, turn right onto a gravel county road and proceed northeastwardly for approximately 3.2 kilometers (2 miles).
