Abstract

This Phase I survey was performed for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in October and November 1995, by Woodward-Clyde Federal Services (WC) under the authority of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act, PL93-266, as amended. In consultation with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Historic Preservation Division, FEMA undertook this documentation survey to fulfill its obligations under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended, which requires that federal agencies take into account the effects of their undertakings on historic properties; if the effects are determined to be adverse, federal agencies may explore mitigation measures to avoid or minimize adverse effects on historic properties.
