Abstract

On April l6, 2013, Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc. (SAS) conducted a Phase I archeological survey of the proposed New Holland 46/25 kV substation and 46 kV tap line in Hall County, Georgia. The survey was conducted to ensure that Georgia Transmission Corporation (GTC) is in compliance with Federal and State regulations concerning the identification and protection of significant archeological sites that may be affected by the project. One archeological site (9HL592) was found by the survey. It is a dispersed scatter of late nineteenth to early twentieth century artifacts located within the proposed corridor for the tap line. The site has poor integrity and little research potential. Consequently, we recommend that it is not eligible to the National Register of Historic Places. Construction of the New Holland projects will not adversely affect any significant archeological sites.
