Abstract

The proposed project would consist of adding a right turn lane in the westbound direction on Atlanta Highway and in the northbound direction of Ed Hogan Road. The project would include the realignment of the intersection Bankhead Highway and Cedar Creek Road with dedicated right and left turn lanes turning onto Bankhead Highway from Cedar Creek Road. In addition, Ed Hogan Road would be extended across the CSX Railroad tracks (reopening a closed at grade rail crossing) to Cedar Creek Road creating a new intersection at Atlanta Highway and Ed Hogan Road. Right and left turn lanes are proposed on Ed Ho an in both directions. Atlanta Highway would be resurfaced and a new right turn lane would be proposed in the was bound direction (see Figures 1 and 2). Along Atlanta Highway, the existing public right-of-way is approximately 100 feet wide and abuts the existing 100- foot CSX right-of-way. Along Ed Hogan Road the existing right-of-way is 80 feet wide and would be expanded to 110 feet for a slope easement of the east side. Required right-of-way north of Bankhead Highway would vary from 80 feet to 160 feet to accommodate slope easements to the north. The total length of the project would be 0.5 mile.
