Abstract

The Summerhill Urban Redevelopment Area Archaeological Research Design (Summerhill URA ARD) has been prepared in accordance with Stipulation IX of the Programmatic Agreement entered into by the Georgia State Historic Preservation Office, the Corporation for Olympic Development in Atlanta, the City of Atlanta, and the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation for the treatment of historic resources in the Summerhill Urban Redevelopment Area (Summerhill URA). The Summerhill URA is bounded by Interstate 20 to the north, Capitol A venue to the west, Ormond Street to the south, and Grant Terrace and Connally Streets to the east (Figure 1) and is slated for a multi-phased and multi-faceted redevelopment initiative consisting of varying scales of new residential and commercial construction as well as the renovation of existing historic and non historic structures.
