Abstract

The proposed project would consist of replacing a structurally deficient bridge on SR 98 over Hickory Level Creek, located approximately 3.5 miles southwest of Homer, Georgia. The existing bridge, constructed in 1967, has a 48.39 sufficiency rating and is limited to some types of heavy truck traffic because it was originally designed for lighter weight standards than current truck weight standards. The existing bridge is 126 feet long with two 13-foot lanes with 3-foot shoulders. The project proposes a new 130-foot long by 44-foot wide concrete bridge at the existing bridge site. The approaches would consist of two 12-foot lanes with 10-foot rural shoulders. Traffic would be maintained during construction using an on-site detour bridge. Existing right-of-way (ROW) is approximately 55 feet. Proposed ROW would be approximately 74 feet.
